"I Am" Poems for WB Professional Development with Constance Weaver

I am
a hardcover book, sometimes quiet and filled with knowledge,

a fly on the wall, listening always before I speak,

a reader, close, careful, thorough, but not always observant,

a lifelong student, hand holding a pen, ready to begin.

I am
over-pronating, protecting soles, pounding against the black, cracked asphalt,

tight calves, barely stretching with each step,

smooth, bony shins, pain resonating to my head with each meeting between foot and ground,

the tortoise, not fast, but continuing nonetheless, happy that I just am.
